Practicing Disney drawings

Image
Believe it or not, I was inspired by POGO's Winnie The Pooh remix to make a Disney drawing.  x)  It's a very cute, relaxing, and child-like remix. I don't know when I'll finish it but I'm hoping I get it done before the summer is over.  I started practicing again because my original style of drawing is anime/manga so when I attempt to draw Disney characters, their eyes are always larger than they should be; It's weird because everyone always talks about how big Disney character's eyes are. lol I want to create a fanart where a few of the Disney child characters from England are all at a cafe or in any place where they'll be eating food.  I got the idea of the Disney characters from England because while listening to that Winnie the Pooh remix, I realized that Christopher Robin is from England and then so is Wendy, Alice, etc.  The cafe idea came from Maid Cafes in Japan. Yes, MAID CAFES. My sister got to go to one of these cafe's before me a...

Trying to get in touch with my artistic self; Fandom post

Image
So sorry.  I would have created a new post sooner but I was yet again sucked into tumblr's black hole of gifs.  That site can be sooo evil...  In a 'too good' kind of way. I was literally up until around 4am browsing through gifs. ( o _ O )  Well, I might as well celebrate my finds with more gifs in this post! Right now I'm drinking a nice hot cup of green tea...   ... And munching on some pirouettes.  Life is good. *Leaves to refill cup* Okay I'm back!  So yes, I'm trying to get back in touch with my artistic side and putting an effort to draw and experiment with different anatomical perspectives.  I'll try to remember to post pics when I finish my reference sketches. I spent one of my afternoons just looking up some research material for poses...  Me after I was finished ----------> ლ(́◉◞౪◟◉‵ლ) I was inspired to make a character design by one of my most absolute favorite shows for the summer,   Game...

It's so cold these days!

Image
I thought I'd post an official blog just about what's going on in my life right now.  The weather has gotten really cold... more like freezing actually.  The temperatures are dropping to the 20's.. Today I was off from work so I decided to make some hot miso soup!  ( *^ v ^* )   There's nothing quite like a hot soup or stew to combat a cold house.  It's funny because my dad claims that we have a lot of food in the fridge but all that 'food' he's talking about is the leftover pizza from last night.  lol I know that in Japan, miso soup is considered more of a side dish or an appetizer but when our family makes it, it's more of a meal.  Along with the miso paste and dashi powder, I usually add: - yellow onion - tofu - wakame - daikon (sometimes) - egg (sometimes) - green onion (sometimes) ... and we eat it with a cooked mixture of brown and white rice!  The tofu adds a lot of bulk to the soup so it's quite filling.  I like to ad...

ZOMG, Five whole months without a post?!!!

Hey, I'm back again. It's been so long and so much has happened since June. It's crazy. To start off, I changed my major around September time.. Yeeeeeeeaaaaaaah... -___-;; Awkward to admit now seeing my previous posts about how I was so much more enthusiastic about the whole art/media design thing. I finally got myself into uni and yet it's so much different than what I imagined. So cliche right? It's sad, but I've learned to accept my mistakes, learn from them, and move on. It's the only way to live without drowning in regret. I think I was doing alright in the beginning but then I get a nervous breakdown (a story for another time) and then in another class, I'm having issues with having the right program and my grades suffering just because of a program version. In the end, I drop that particular class and everything just snowballed from there. Over this short period of time, I'm surprised at how much I learned about myself and my ...

Difference Between Anime and Disney

I don't know why but I feel like I have to make a post on this one. Today on the bus, I was thinking about what the big difference is between Disney and anime I came to a conclusion. Aside from the HUGE fact that Disney characters and Anime characters look very different and the culture behind the stories have their vast contrasts, it has to do with the movements of the characters and the emphasis on space and setting. Disney animations have beautiful paintings of settings for their backgrounds but they mostly serve JUST as a backgrounds. The settings in Disney films don't seem to move around or come alive like the characters do. They seem to mostly act as a ground for the characters and objects that the characters interact with. The settings in anime features come to life. For example, the grass is shown moving with the wind or the rustling of the trees can be seen and heard. Maybe there might be scene that simply shows the babbling brook or stream. If Disney animation...

Can't get to sleep so I'm writing this...

So right now, I'm just awake and even though I pulled an all-nighter from yesterday, I still can't get to sleep at this time. -__- It's funny when I think about it. Today, I went out with my mom shopping for wedding outfits. She needed a dress so I helped her out in picking one. We also looked in a few shoe stores because I insisted that I might need new dress shoes. After looking through all these shoes, I realized that I really don't need them. I find it so amusing that I have to physically go to the store and actually look through all the shoes to realize this. The way my mind works still baffles me. I finally went out and bought new acrylic paints today so maybe now, I'll finally get started on painting. Before summer, I promised myself that I would work on art stuff this summer since I wasn't going to school. It's also to help me because I'm the type of person who feels depressed if I'm not doing anything productive and I do count a...

I found my cameraa!!! lol

Image
Guess what! Just a few days after that post about losing my camera, I actually found it! erm.. well, 'I' didn't technically. Okay, so my sister found it. She was wearing this jacket and it was in the jacket pocket. -.-; Of course I would never have looked there. Now I'm all happies because I can finally post the pictures for the newest updates as of now! Okay, so first, the tulips! More of them survived and bloomed and they are so beautiful-! Pretty, ne? ^^ The trees were also very lovely that day. Aside from all the nature pics, I did take a few of the recent paintings that I dug out of my car. Although they are so ugly that I won't be posting them on here. x( My bad for mentioning but not delivering. Since I'm not posting those and I'm running out of picture ideas, I'll post pics of some of the stuffs I got from my WA trip and of course, online buys~! ^.^ First off, the WA items! I bought a ton of magz from Kinokuniya in t...

December Update [12-27-2009]

Image
Today is my last day of work for the week and I'm so happy since Christmas is officially OVER-!!!! ^___^ Now I can focus on New Years, the more important holiday of the month. u.u I recently found this cool blog with a ton of Japanese recipes. I'll be looking over that for now. Arigatou Maki-Saaaaaan~! I'm excited because I got this idea to make New Year Soba (Toshikoshi Soba) and I do love cooking. Sadly, I've been unbalanced and been mostly baking. So far, I've baked cookies, cakes, and mochi (note: learn to make butter mochi). I should've posted pics on here but the chiffon cake that I attempted wasn't as good-looking as I hoped it would look and with the others, they were nothing new. I still have to perfect the chiffon cake. Back to the soba, I'm so excited and I can't wait to go to the Pacific Ocean Market downtown to buy ingredients and some other goodies. ^o^ My interests in Japan Deco and fashion have also been revived so I might a...

My long weekend [10-13-2009]

I was so surprised at how long this past weekend lasted. I think it's due mostly to the fact that I woke up super early. xD On Friday, it was a fairly normal, boring day, just chillaxing after the week of school. Then Saturday rolled by as usual and then on Sunday, that's when things got interesting. I woke up a lot earlier than I usually do because I wanted to see my cousin, her bf, his bro, and her kids and have breakfast with them (in case I didn't get a chance to see them again). I woke up at about 6:00am and got ready to leave by 7:00am. Me, dad, and Karyn drove up to Loveland to pick them up from the hotel they were at. It was a very nice hotel, an Embassy Suites I believe. It was hilarious because I called Tiff when we got there and she didn't pick up her phone a couple times. We found out a little later that they slept in. lol It's funny because it seems like something I might do. We actually went up to their room to meet them and saw Chuck...

Almost finished with this semester

I really shouldn't be writing in here this late.. ugh, I am so torn between using my other blog vs this blog.. I guess I'll just use the other blog for drama reviews or whatever since I really have no idea.. Anyway, I'm almost finished with this semester and I am so happy! ^^ Just two more days of school and I'm free for winter break! It's really too bad because I still have zero urge to shop and that's pretty much the only thing I can really do here. I've been wanting to go to this H-Mart downtown but it's a REALLY long drive down there and I don't wanna drive. I'm pretty sure that taking the bus there would take half a day considering all the transfers but I'll have to look into it. I am so procrastinating on my paintings too. They're really graphicy.. If that makes any sense. Maybe I'll post them on here but I don't really want to. I'll have to make a watermark on them.. So, that's about it for now. I ...

Wow, I haven't signed into here in FoReVeR!!!

Image
Haha, It's been a while since I've been on this blog. I guess it's because I "thought" that I forgot the password to get into here and didn't believe I could retrieve it because my email for this account was deleted. It turns out that I didn't forget my password and ended up making an entirely new blog. o_O Anyway, life's been pretty boring for the past few months. I finally ended the dreadful summer art class with the annoying teacher (... maybe 'annoying' isn't the word I'm really looking for. Think of it this way: she's one of those teachers that you just can't stand and it's very difficult to explain why because the problem runs so deep. It's almost like we were enemies or didn't like each other in a past life. It's that kind of feeling so I'm gonna go along with it). I also ended that history class and sadly, I got a B when I think I should have gotten an A with all the effort I put into the wor...

My EMO time

The background is changed to black yet again. I have a fairly short interest span so I can never really keep a background for long. Some of the songs are emo too so bear with me. They're good songs though. Sometimes I like listening to rock/emo music and sometimes I'm into the direct opposite with happy pop/rock music. I guess it all depends on how I feel and right now, I'm sort of tired with thinking of ideas for my art class. That class is a good 3 hours of brainstorming at once. -___- Our history teacher also kinda had to bail out on us and our new history teacher has more workload, adding a book report and group presentations. Ick... Okaaay, I'll stop complaining now since my life really isn't that difficult. That always makes me wonder though, does that really give other people the right to say that we people who don't live on our own have NO right to complain about ANYTHING at all? Personally, I think that's kind of unfair but there still...

Random update (note: pictures are from a couple months ago)

Image
Babykins enjoying the sun after the unexpected frost. Sooo cuuuute! >.< Isn't this just cozy? lol I'll probably do a compare picture with this one. Now it's all green and sunny so wouldn't it be cool if there was this same picture except a summer scene? x3 Frosty tulips~. Sad thing is that out of the 10 tulips, only these two bloomed... T.T Pink really is a strong color after all. May 14th, 2009: --I find it so hard to organize my thoughts these days. It's very frustrating at times. I'll bet it's because I'm having this internal debate on whether I should attempt enrolling into one of two colleges. I finally got the transfer class guide for one but also the other. I'm telling myself that I'll try going for whichever one is cheaper. One of the colleges also wants me to add in 12 or so computer designs with all layers intact for them to look over to see what I can do on computer design programs (i.e. photoshop, photoshop il...

Artist block?

I seriously can't think of any good ideas for creative art right now. It really sucks. I believe that it's because I'm all caught up in college class planning. I recently visited the MGD counselor of our college and of course, that led me to having to see yet another counselor. The whole problem was that I wanted to make sure the classes I took at this college would be able to transfer to the other college. It turns out that only ' academic ' courses are guaranteed transfer and all other MGD courses are questionable.... shit. I also have to make an appointment for my re-badging because where I work, we're required to have badges renewed every year... Okay, so back to my artist block. It's so weird. Sometimes, I'm full of ideas and others, I have no idea of what to create. I'm hoping that it won't be this bad if I actually do get a career job in a creative art field where I have to be coming up with ideas constantly. Such pressure... l...

Back to school

I just got through my first week of school a few days ago. It was great! For those who don't know, I recently changed my major to multimedia graphic design (MGD), everything art and my original passion. ^__^ I was just kidding myself these past two years taking random classes... I know, kind of a waste of time but I won't call it that because nothing educational is a waste. I'd like to call it me finding my true passions in life. So these past two years, I've been taking all these science-based classes trying to get into some kind of medical degree but I really didn't do well. I also had NO plan so I wasn't really aiming for anything. Other than that, I was taking the basic prerequisite classes like college algebra, sociology, psychology, etc. This semester, I'm taking classes that are actually applied to a plan for me to transfer. Exciting~! >_< The classes are drawing I., 2-D graphic design, and adobe photoshop I. They're all very f...
