Japan: Shaving "down there" = Impure?

This topic came to me after my first time experiencing an onsen and sento (public bath).  For anyone who's been to any of these, you'll know what I'm talking about.  You're gonna see everything. I noticed that all the Japanese women (in the baths I visited) didn't shave their pubes.  It seems like Japan is a hair-free kind of country where they shave armpits, arms, legs, etc.  So why not pubic hair? After doing some research, it appears that generally porn stars in Japan shave their pubes.  It's uncommon and not expected of the main public to do so.  I guess that means that if a girl were to shave her pubey's, she's telling the world she's a whore. There's also the theory where pubic hair hides the lady parts so it's seen as more modest. My question is, for the first theory, how true is this belief?  Does a girl really appear slutty if she shaves her pubic hair in Japan?

Some winter cooking

Even though it's been getting warmer these days, I'm still inspired to cook hot stews and soups.  x3 Here's a few of the dishes I've made over the past couple of weeks.   Beef Curry This may sound silly but my inspirations for making any kind of stew comes from watching Brock cook in the show Pokemon.  I still remember watching it as a child and my earliest memories of anime characters cooking was seeing Brock cook for his friends.   Because of this, I always think about his stews when I make my own.  xP I even cut up the potatoes into more spherical shapes to achieve the anime aesthetics.   And does anyone else notice that food always looks tastier in Anime?  Their food always looks so delicious!!! Examples: Now back to my own dishes... Nikujaga I really wanted to put our portable hot pot to use so I looked up some recipes similar to oden and came across nikujaga.   It's beef and potatoes m...

Cooking Korean FOOD & other dishes :3

And yet again I wait so long to make a post, especially in the summer when I'm supposed to have all the time in the world.  (-___-);; I was really motivated these past 2 weeks so I decided to expand my cooking repertoire and learn to cook some delicious Korean dishes. After I started watching this family Korean drama called Ojakgyo Brothers (omg she's talking about dramas AGAIN?), I was inspired to try cooking some Korean dishes.  I researched and found maangchi (http://www.maangchi.com) who is really awesome because she organizes her recipes very well so it was easy for me to find a few that I would like to cook.  She also makes simple, well organized, and easy directions for how to create each of the recipes. The super-awesome-kick ass-delicious dish pictured above is called Patbingsu and like the Japanese Kakigori, it's a refreshing ice dessert, except more healthy!  I noticed the main difference in the ingredients between the Japanese and Korean versions...

Ouran High School Host Club Review: So wonderful but too short-lived!

Yeh, yeh, I know. I have no life right now to have time for all these dramas. xP The amount of dramas I watch come in waves. Now happens to be peak drama season for me. (*__*) This is one of those dramas where I thought it would be really stupid but then it blows me away by it's awesomeness. I finished it in less than two weeks too! Record time for a drama series although this series was also a short one.... so sad, it was really great! I remember watching the anime for this show way back when but I don't think I got to the end. Anyway, from what I've seen, the characters were chosen VERY nicely. I don't even care if Tamaki's and Honey senpai's hair isn't blonde as that seems to be a pet peeve for a lot of hardcore fans. Whatever, I think they did an excellent job with their characters. But the one and only person who I thought was so so sooooo PERFECT for his role was the actor Daito Shunsuke who played Kyouya. He is the GOD of sexy mega...

Relaxing Day in May

Image
I found these pics from 2011-05-14. It was a very peaceful day doing almost nothing, lol. The house was so clean! I think it's because we had that quaint small coffee table instead of our usual large 6 seater one that was still with my dad in WA. Babycakes is resting in one of her favorite spots. :3 CLEAN~!!! (*o*) This was one of those furikake packets from Uwaji. It's a pretty good idea to have egg, rice, and furikake mixed in one. It's one of those emergency food things where you didn't think about dinner and have no other options. xP Good emergency food since we usually have rice and eggs on hand. ;) Tea drawer. Love the hot water dispenser. A MUST buy if you live in a cold environment. Worth every penny (as long as you get a fair price that is). We bought ours for around $100 a year or two ago. Ahhh... Hoji-cha.......... ("^_____^") It makes me feel so toasty warm inside. <3 <3 <3 And here's the carb-packed midnigh...

Last visits to Washington...?

We stopped at this crepe stand in a mall near Seatac Airport. The display is so pretty and appealing. They have tuna and egg salad crepes but I'm not that adventurous. Their crepes were good but they can't compare to the ones in Harajuku Japan. I think they just give too much because I get so full from these crepes.. I can't even eat a whole one unless I'm really hungry maybe. One of the piers at Mukilteo Harbor. It was very low tide that day. The water looks pretty clear here until it hits the deep point. I still get creeped out at what could be lurking in the murky waters of the Puget Sound. Familiar scenery... Good food from Bento Time. :) There's something about bento that makes them so appealing. Perhaps all the choices? Did lots of shopping at Uwaji's. I always get like this when I'm thinking I'll probably never come back. (-v-);; This was all from early May, 2011 but me being me, I procrastinated this long and have al...
