Absorbed in my hobbies

Baby kale sprouts As my job hunt continues, I need things to focus on to keep from despairing. That sounds depressing.. But it's so true. It's not easy to find a job these days. I started gardening and the first plants I tried were kale seeds. My mom had them and intended to grow kale last year but never got to it. I beat her to the punch and planted these little guys. And they grew! I'm really happy because I always thought of myself as a plant killer. Hopefully by doing my research, I'll have good results with the kale. I also planted some flower seeds: morning glories, forget-me-nots, bachelor's buttons, and oriental poppies. I'm a bit worried about the poppies. Some describe them to be like a weed although I guess they're picky? There were some reviews talking about how poppies can be difficult to grow in pots. Other reviews say they're easy to grow. We'll see. My other favorite hobby is cooking and baking. I made cream stew again last ...

Thank you Lady girl for all the happy memories

Hello again.  I'm sorry for not posting in a while.  About two weeks ago, my first dog passed away.    I'll always remember her enjoying the sun in this room.  It feels as if she's still there. She was 15-years-old and such a smart and healthy girl.  She only ever got sick once with pancreatitis from which we nursed her back to health; that gave her 5 more months to enjoy life with us. We could tell something was wrong with her from about a couple weeks before her passing, when her appetite started to wane.  She didn't want to each much of her food, even her favorite homemade food of chicken and rice.  Eventually, it got to the point where she didn't want to eat at all and she didn't want to drink much either. She lost a lot more weight and was close the point of being skin and bones.  Even in this state, she was still such a beautiful dog.  She had a smooth, white coat so it masked any signs of her aging. It was difficu...

She's eating again! ^^

I've been very happy for these past few days and am so thankful because my dog is finally eating again!  I felt like I had a large weight lifted from me because she's finally starting to recover.  It's one of the worst feelings to see a dog refusing to eat for so long. Recently we've been feeding her this low fat dog food the vet prescribed us.  She's okay with it but I can tell she really wants the food we used to give her (a mixture of homemade chicken and rice w/veggies).  I'm also glad to see that she's finally starting to drink water on her own.  No more giving her water through a syringe. She's starting to walk again which is great because she wasn't moving around much for a good 4 days.  On the 5th day, she started accepting food and sitting up.  We were all so relieved. The weather has let up after a long cold front and my dog is enjoying the warm sunshine.  Dog's always enjoy the simple things in life. ^^ Anyway, thank y...

Sick dog...

Hello again.  These past few weeks, the weather has been relentlessly cold and along with the bad weather came bad news for my dog. She got sick this past Friday, throwing up throughout the morning and not eating.  We took her to the vet and got the news about her pancreatitis.  They also mentioned issues about her heart murmur and possible kidney issues but she's old, 14-years-old to be exact, and that kind of news doesn't shock me...  I just felt bad for her because the vet told us that pancreatitis can be very painful for a dog.  Anyway, she got prescribed pain, nausea, and antibiotic medications and we took her home.  They told us the only thing we could do was to make sure she didn't eat anything for 48 hours and after that, see if her symptoms improve. It's been about 4 days and we've been giving her water through a syringe because she eventually refused most of the water we offered her.  She hasn't eaten at all since her diagnosis. ...

Spring skipped out this year & Mother's Day Adventures

Image
Starting off with a beautiful shot of the sunset. It's really hot these days and this has been going on since April.  I'm seriously considering that maybe global warming isn't total bs after all.  :/ The temperature has been in the 80's and it only backs down into the high 70's on cooler days.  I find it a bit sad because my tulips really took a beating this year.  There were rarely any days with mild spring weather and instead, we were met with either super cold snowy days or scorching hot days... wtf. It's like it's getting hotter and dryer each year.  Here's proof: http://mikun-revenge.blogspot.com/2011/08/spring-2011.html The spring from a couple years ago was so much more flowery with much, much cooler weather.  Now look at it...  My tulips are dry and deader than ever and flowers were pretty much nonexistent save for a few blossoms here and there. This year, it's like we jumped straight into summer without having the chance to enjo...

Cold days

Image
The weather has been really cold for weeks now!   I guess we'd have a few lucky days where the temperature would rise up to around 50 degrees but then it would be a windy day.  Bleh   It was sort of mis ty and t here was a dusty kind of snow in the air. So what have I been up to during these cold, cold weeks?  I recently fin ished a fairly long working streak.  It would hav e been 6 da ys in a row if I hadn't broken it up ; I'm glad I did.  Working 6+ days str aight starts to make one feel like they don't have a life outside of work.   Trust me, I've do ne 10-11 days of continuous working and it sucks!  A nd to top it all off, all my w ork days took place befo re my exam day so I had a great time cra mming a lot during my final days o f work. Okay, so I'm gonna stop talking about work right now because I usually save that for the rants, lol.  And just a warning, this post is gonna be really long .  I haven't blogged in a w...
