Our shitty service at the Korean restaurant

This happened yesterday when my dad and I went to get dinner at a Korean BBQ restaurant. When we first arrived, everything was still sunshine and rainbows. We were finally going to get some Korean food~! There weren't many people there, maybe two tables besides us and we were greeted and seated. After a little while, this waitress comes by. Unsmiling, she takes our order in a just-get-it-done fashion. I'm not particularly peeved by this so things are still 'okay'. She brings over the banchan (side dishes) and sort of plops them on the table, making a small thud with each dish. I noticed other tables were treated in a similar manner with different waiters. I don't like it when servers set dishes on the table and let them clunk loudly, ESPECIALLY with lightweight dishes like banchan. I mean, really? I honestly think it just gives an impression of the server being angry. We got our food pretty damn quick. I ordered a bibimbap and my dad got the sushi. I w...

How FFXV destroyed my feels

Image
Holy shit did this game destroy me. And I mean that in an emotional way. People will probably think this is hilarious but I was seriously in a catatonic state after completing this game for maybe... a week? I know I was depressed about it for at least 2 weeks.. I finished FFXV on Christmas so uhm.. I was in a sorry state that day. Thanks Tabata you sick bastard! I shall now remember you as the director that kills my dreams of a happy ending. Final Fantasy XV holds a special place in my heart, mostly because of how it's kind of symbolic for me. When I first saw previews of this game, I was just recently out of high school and starting college. When I finally got to play this, I had just graduated from nursing school after a long journey of figuring out what I really wanted to do with my life. Somehow I just happened to obtain this game merely a week after graduating. I'm so obsessed with FFXV! I've been playing it almost everyday ( after I got over my depressio...

Group work in college sucks

1. Usually, by this time, everyone has their own 'life' so it sucks that much more if we need to meet outside of class .  Peer bonding?  Gag me.  Sorry, we're not a club or sports team, and I don't wanna see these bastards anywhere but inside our educational institution!  Don't even get me started on people being late when we agree on a time to meet. 2. Most people are lazy and won't take initiative to do work. When someone responsible finally steps up to the plate, delegates, organizes, and puts in a lot of effort because no one else will, they're instantly labeled as one or more of the following: bossy, uptight, overachieving, attention whore. 3. More often than not, the hard worker in the group is under appreciated and exploited while the so-called popular, lazier one in the group seems to get all the thanks and credit for doing a small task.  What... the... fuck? 4. Since college instructors don't aid in the delegation of tasks, the workload...

How to deal with a condescending person

In case anyone doesn't know what 'condescending' is, it's when someone does anything and everything to appear and feel superior to others.  They have the need to express their superiority, especially by treating others as if they are are less intelligent than them.  They usually do this by 'talking down' to a person and treating them like a child.  Other common characteristics of the condescending person is insufferable bragging and bossiness. At my current job, I'm at an information front desk.  I'm literally grounded to a 'tiny island' area unless I have a lunch or break. One of the coworkers I work with is the most condescending, boastful, and micromanaging-obsessed person I've ever met.  There are a lot of things she says to me that makes me realize how condescending she is.  It seems that even though I've been working at this job for almost half a year, I will always be in the purgatory of 'in-training' with her and she...

"Hey! I'm right here!!!" ( .\ _ /. ) /

Okay, so this happens to me every so often and it's never less irritating when it does. This is about basic conversation etiquette . I went to a volunteer social event last night.  I brought a guest with me because I thought, "A free dinner?  Hell yeah I'll bring a guest!" The dinner was very impressive.  It was hosted at a fancy hotel and they even had bartenders serving free drinks. I'm sitting at a table full of strangers except for maybe a few familiar faces.  There are hundreds of volunteers and no way for me to know all of them, especially since I'm usually isolated on one floor of the hospital. There's this old guy sitting to my left and my guest, who happened to be my mom on my right.  We're all seated at a round table which accommodates 10 people but there are 9 sitting at ours. Just so you know, this isn't the only time this has happened.  It's actually happened on various occasions and on various levels although this o...

Idiot driver making right turn...

Image
Today while I was on my way home from driving my sister to work, I came across one of the most stupid drivers I've ever encountered.  I've been lucky not to run into many crazy drivers in my lifetime but then again, I don't drive much to begin with. Back to my story, I was on a one lane road, passing a lake with some neighborhoods to my right.  About 5 cars away, I see a large, vehicle... sorry, can't say what kind of car it was but it looked similar in size to a GMC. So that car looks as if it's waiting to make a right turn into my lane.  I'm driving at about 45mph and that car is slowly inching its way out.  I think that like most cars, it's going to wait until I pass because obviously I have the right of way and I'm clearly in sight. Right as I'm about to pass that car, maybe 6 feet between me and them, they start to make their turn!  They do this as if I'm not even there.  I'm going too fast to stop, and my mind is in ov...

Corporate slave

Here I am in my cozy room sipping some fruit punch soda (it's really refreshing btw ^^).  It's still drizzling outside.  I guess monsoon season has officially started because I've noticed the steady increase in rainfall.  Not that I'm complaining.  ;)  I really love the rain.  It's like all of the crap from earlier never happened.  As I left from work, the weather mocked me with its cool, steady drops of rain and the sun giving its last farewell for the day, peaking through the clouds.  I even saw a double rainbow! Today, I was literally the definition of a corporate slave.  Below is Urban Dictionary's definition: "1. corporate slave   The people who make the business world go round and round, without them executives might actually have to do something besides make rules to make it more difficult for the slaves under them to do their job. Corporate slaves are easily identifiable by the vacant look in their eyes a...

How to say "NO" without saying no

Image
Have you ever been around this person who always seems to ask favors of you?  Do you feel like you're a sap who's being taken advantage of?  And do you have a difficult time just telling them "NO?" Well today is your lucky day because this post is just for you guys! :D I thought about this issue today because I recently encountered a person that tried to take advantage of my kindness at work this afternoon; I now realize how important it is for us nice folks to be prepared. I can completely relate to this situation because I'm the type of person who wants to please everyone and I usually don't refuse if someone asks something of me (except for money & car rides, lol). First lets talk about my experience at work. ************************************************************************************ The area I was in generally needs keys to open locked items and it's kind of annoying because there's so many workers but only two pairs of key...

Idiot driver blaring their high beam lights

WARNING : This is a rant and has a lot of bad language.  Read at your own discretion. I'm sorry but I just had to put up this rant.  It's still been annoying the hell out of me every time I think about it. I think I mentioned before but one of the things I hate most in this world is light glaring in my face.  It doesn't matter if it's sunlight, flashlights, car lights............  you get the picture. Back to my story. I had a short shift at work last night so I ended up coming home fairly late, around 9:30pm.  I was unfortunate enough to have the worst timing ever because as I was getting towards my house to park in the driveway, there was this car in front of the house facing me with super bright lights.  At first I thought, "what an asshole, why are they just parked there?"  But then as I got closer, I found that it was not a stranger, but worse.  It was my sister's friend who was blaring her f*cking car's high beams right IN MY FACE ....

Tired with a headache... It's time to find a new job.

Image
Maybe I'm just not a morning person.  I went into work this morning and we had to have a training session where they teach us about more hardcore selling...  *mental barf* But before I forget, I started off my day with the lovely smell of barf.  Yes, barf.  Dog barf..... Scruffy felt sick this morning and decided to throw up right under the blankets.  It also got on my sweat pants (reason why I'm feeling so much colder today).  So instead of enjoying my morning sipping some hot tea, I spent most of it cleaning off barf from my blanket and sweat pants. Now back to the main topic. I'm not all that into these 'class sessions' where there's expected participation for the discussions. I'm extremely good at writing my answers but for whatever reason, it always gets awkward for me when we have to orally answer questions.   First of all, I'm not really an obnoxious or loud person.  Anyway as far back as I can remember, whenever I tried to a...

Forever21 has awesome deals and questionable policies

Image
I went out to the mall with my sister on Sunday.  It was one of those days where we thought it would be a good idea to hang out together since she's rarely off from work.  That workaholic. xD When we got there, I stopped by one of my favorite clothing stores, Forever21. The store was actually written as XII Forever so I suppose you could call it an extended version of Forever21 with much more selection. I usually shop on YesStyle.com and that's where I get a little bit of perspective on prices.  When I see a plain thin sweater shirt, my limit is under $10, depending on how substantial the material is.  Here's an example: For a thin sweater, I'm not gonna fork out $22.  I've also shopped excessively at Ross over the years so I know that thin-material clothing isn't going to retain its good appearance for long. So I walk into the store and I see that it's sectioned off into different color and style schemes.  One side may have flowery and femini...

5 Pet Peeves

Image
*NOTE: Lots of swearing and bad language await you in this post.  Read at your own discretion. I was inspired to create this post after watching some youtube videos of people elaborating on what annoys them the most.  Anyway, lets start with my major annoyances!  :D 1.) People who don't express thanks This one really gets to me and to all those people who do this and assume others know that you're thankful, go-to-hell.  We're not mind readers!  When people don't express thanks, even if they do feel thankful inside, the other party WILL assume in the end that this person is a totally unappreciative jackass.  They shouldn't go accepting something or some favor without acknowledging someone's sacrificed time and energy on them.  I honestly feel like people who act this way believe they're entitled to walking all over other people's good intentions which is just not cool. 2.) "Mall walkers" aka. People who think they own the sidewalk/walkwa...

A good yet strangely annoying day at work

Image
[WARNING: This entry contains large amounts of foul language and ranting.  Read at your own discretion.] Today was actually a very productive and good day at work for me.  I got a lot done in terms of organizing and putting things where they belonged.  The time also flew by.  The only issue I had lay with this particular coworker who came to work with me in my area today. As associates, we can pick and choose which area we want to settle in and it's a maximum of two associates to each area. So anyway, one of my coworkers, let's call her Two-Faced Betty (lol) decides to work with me in the area I originally settled in AND got to first, may I add.  I call her Two-Faced Betty because when you first meet her, she seems like a really sweet old lady BUT my impression of her was immediately shattered after my explanation below... To start off my morning, I go around the store, greet customers, and ask them if they need help with anything.  And here's the c...

Why it SUCKS being the eldest child

Image
I hail from an Asian American family so I'm just saying beforehand, my reasoning may not apply to everyone.  I am the eldest child in my family and as the eldest child, most of the responsibility is pushed onto me in these forms: 1.) Cooking 2.) Cleaning 3.) Helping with basic chores 4.) Expected to know everything or the so called "common knowledge" 5.) Expected to take care of younger siblings 6.) Expected to be the 'role model' 7.) Expected to have all life experiences FIRST just because I'm the eldest I'm also judged maybe 10 times more harshly than any of my siblings if I do something wrong.  A great example happened today.  I had to fix the curtain rack in my room because it was starting to fall off and asked my mother to help me with it.  She ended up taking off everything, even the curtains and I got worried because my mom loves to procrastinate and if I don't push her to help with some task, she tends to leave it unfinished.  So I ...
