Final chapters

I've been feeling more nervous about this semester of nursing school for some reason. I should be happy, ecstatic even. But I feel anxiety. I thought about this a lot while walking with Max and it occurred to me that, this is probably because this is a final chapter. I think of life being in chapters. There are the chapters of grade school, chapters of high school, chapters of a first job, etc. This happens to be a chapter of nursing school and it's going to be over in a little over a few months. It's kind of unreal, because it's played such a large part in my life. Even my classmates in nursing school, whether I like it or not, play a large part in this chapter. I personally like the changes of classmates in college classes and I didn't really like how we were essentially stuck with our 'cohort' for the entire two years of nursing school... But that's how it is. I always thought to myself, I wonder when I'll be able to be free of this class. And n...

My feelings during clinicals and how I deal with them

I just got my clinical assignment for my final semester of nursing school. When I look back, it seems like I've gone through a lot even though it hasn't even been 2 years yet. This made me reflect on my previous clinical experiences and how I dealt with some feelings that would arise. Clinicals can be anywhere from very fun to very stressful. Factors like who your clinical instructor is, the rapport between your peers, patients, the nurse you get assigned with for the day, and just your own personal threshold makes all the difference in the world. First Semester This was the semester where we all went to assisted living facilities for our clinical. This was the hard and dirty work for us. No passing medications, no full assessments (although we did some light assessing), and no true collaboration with nurses. It was much more about starting from rock bottom. Nurse aide work. That means building raw skills like feeding, toileting, bed baths, transporting, and...

The hardest semester is over

In our program, this semester is said to be the most difficult and stressful. I've been officially out of 3rd semester for two days since I finished finals. \(^0^)/ I've been trying to stay productive, making "To-Do" lists. It's been working pretty well so far. I'm in the process of making a summer study schedule and planning my trips, mainly to Korea with my dad and Hawaii (for a cousin's graduation party). I feel really fortunate to be able to go on these trips. Dad used to work for an airline so our family has had flight benefits all my life.  Although this semester has been difficult, I didn't feel its effects as harshly as some people did. I'm sure it's due to me not working and doing school at the same time.. My good friend in the class was doing 35 hours a week of work and school; She ended up failing mental health nursing...  After she didn't pass, another friend that I just started to get to know well ended up dropping out. The...

How I'm spending my Spring of 2012

Soooooo, after my lovely Christmas and New Years, it was back to the grinds for me.  This semester was a bit more busy with two heavy science classes, Anatomy/Phys II and Microbio along with Microecon!  XD I know in previous school posts that I said that my attitude towards school had changed toward the more scholarly?  Well, it has changed yet again.  Fickle me!  Yeh, so this semester I've been more laid back about everything which is good and bad I guess.  I feel sometimes that I should just attend and enjoy my classes and the material should come to me better than if I stress myself out over everything.  I think it worked to a certain extent. We've got finals coming this week for the science classes and I'm honestly more worried about microbio because we have a good amount of diseases to remember..  (-__-)  I'm wracking my brains just trying to figure out how to categorize everything. I'm finding myself actually enjoying my microecon...

Finally going on another trip!!!

Some family came to visit yesterday so I picked them up and brought them to the house. It was cool because I could show off my kakigori maker~! ^o^ I made the strawberry syrup and mixed the sweetened condensed milk with some 2% milk so and it went perfectly with the ice. The taste is comparable to goodie goodie ice cream but not as sweet. The family all thought it was delicious and refreshing. I'll write about the kakigori maker in a future post since I don't have any pictures of the actual thing right now. It's so delicious and I'm so excited for that really hot day where I can make that and eat it with family. This summer is gonna be good. My mom suggested that I go back with the family as an early summer trip since I'm finished with this semester of school. It's a little sad since I'll be leaving on Mother's Day but I did everything I could do in my power to make my mom feel special these past couple of days. And there's also the fact...

Finishing up this semester

Image
I feel pretty happy today since I finished almost everything I told myself I would do. I had a lot of library books from my last speech's research to return so I went to two different libraries to return them. Yep, I do lots of research..., lol Then I almost finished my self/peer evaluation for our most recent speeches during my break which is cool because that stuff can take a long time. Sooo I'm really close to finishing that. Just one peer evaluation left. I even finished the extra credit assignment, yaa! What's left is studying for my next bio exam and finishing up the bio take home exam. Our teacher is being really cool about it because she gave us the exam today, and is even going to take questions on it for next week if we finish early and have questions. I'm gonna aim for the 100, I don't care if she says hardly anyone gets it for this take home exam. I don't know why, but I've been aiming a lot higher for grades these days and my expec...

Sometimes I wish I just didn't care.......but...

I find it kind of weird that I have so much psychological stuff going on in my head but I don't even have a label for it. I thought it would be a good idea to write about things like feelings sometimes because maybe if someone else has the same issue, they can read this and think, hey, I'm not the only one feeling this. Sort of a kinsmanship kind of thing. Omg, so cheesey but whatever! Lets get rollin'! Hopefully this won't sound stupid but even if this may seem like a small issue, lots of these issues combined can make a bigger issue. (wtf too many 'issues'...) So I'm in a class and there's this girl at our table who is senior to the rest of us by at least 5 years. I knew from the very beginning that she was a somewhat controlling person. I usually make character psychoanalysis's at the very beginning of every class for most of my classmates that I see or converse with, of course, they are all hypothetical/theoretical since I don't k...

Things to look forward to: March 2011

Image
I think having something to look forward to is so important in everyday life. It drives us to move on and accomplish things that we could never do without some kind of positive energy. So, here's a few things that I'm personally looking forward to: I completely understand if people make comparisons with this movie and Twilight. I mean, who wouldn't? Same director, similar concept, same fantasy element, blah blah blah... However, I'm willing to give this movie a chance and am looking forward to seeing this during my Spring Break~! ^o^ It looks like there will probably be a much, much better storyline compared to Twilight as this movie's based off a popular fairy tale. The scenery also looked breathtaking after getting a few glimpses from the trailer. I can't wait. And Red Riding Hood's long flowing red cloak, *sigh*, beautiful... It really made me want to get a red cloak of my own! I'm so excited since it's been a while since I've ...

Cake Pops!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I'm finally finished with this semester of school!!! So excited! I made cake pops with my mom last night and it was pretty fun but somewhat hard work with the chocolate dipping. -.- We had to keep re filling the chocolate dip supply and reheating it. That stuff cools off fast after dipping! (I know, big deal right? But mind you, we were doing this at like 11 at night and I was up since 6.) Lots of work but it was fun because it was like working in a candy shop making pretty chocolates. ^^ At the very end, we would glaze contrasting colored chocolate over the cake pops so they looked just like the chocolate factory sweets! And, funny thing is, I came to work today and my manager showed me this huge box of See's chocolates and said someone left it for us so we can all eat it. O_O They're gonna make me so faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat... I'm ...

Funny how life can get so busy in mere seconds

It's almost the end of the semester and I'm so happy since I'll be over with these classes that I've been sticking it out with (since I had changed my major a couple months back). But now, I have to focus on getting a 'career' entry job which will take me some time. Finding a job is a job in itself... -__- I'll probably have to focus on financial aid too so that kind of sucks. I like to pay off my debts at the moment. I'm sure many people hate the feeling of something hanging over their head all the time. All of this extra stuff I have to do is interlinked with the career in question that I changed to. I'm sure that it will be a good idea this time to actually get a job in the related field to get a more clear idea of the job itself. That was my mistake with what I had been doing for these past two years. Although I'm happy that I can at least get an associates degree for all the time I put into it. I hear other students telling me ...

ZOMG, Five whole months without a post?!!!

Hey, I'm back again. It's been so long and so much has happened since June. It's crazy. To start off, I changed my major around September time.. Yeeeeeeeaaaaaaah... -___-;; Awkward to admit now seeing my previous posts about how I was so much more enthusiastic about the whole art/media design thing. I finally got myself into uni and yet it's so much different than what I imagined. So cliche right? It's sad, but I've learned to accept my mistakes, learn from them, and move on. It's the only way to live without drowning in regret. I think I was doing alright in the beginning but then I get a nervous breakdown (a story for another time) and then in another class, I'm having issues with having the right program and my grades suffering just because of a program version. In the end, I drop that particular class and everything just snowballed from there. Over this short period of time, I'm surprised at how much I learned about myself and my ...

Can't get to sleep so I'm writing this...

So right now, I'm just awake and even though I pulled an all-nighter from yesterday, I still can't get to sleep at this time. -__- It's funny when I think about it. Today, I went out with my mom shopping for wedding outfits. She needed a dress so I helped her out in picking one. We also looked in a few shoe stores because I insisted that I might need new dress shoes. After looking through all these shoes, I realized that I really don't need them. I find it so amusing that I have to physically go to the store and actually look through all the shoes to realize this. The way my mind works still baffles me. I finally went out and bought new acrylic paints today so maybe now, I'll finally get started on painting. Before summer, I promised myself that I would work on art stuff this summer since I wasn't going to school. It's also to help me because I'm the type of person who feels depressed if I'm not doing anything productive and I do count a...

December Update [12-27-2009]

Image
Today is my last day of work for the week and I'm so happy since Christmas is officially OVER-!!!! ^___^ Now I can focus on New Years, the more important holiday of the month. u.u I recently found this cool blog with a ton of Japanese recipes. I'll be looking over that for now. Arigatou Maki-Saaaaaan~! I'm excited because I got this idea to make New Year Soba (Toshikoshi Soba) and I do love cooking. Sadly, I've been unbalanced and been mostly baking. So far, I've baked cookies, cakes, and mochi (note: learn to make butter mochi). I should've posted pics on here but the chiffon cake that I attempted wasn't as good-looking as I hoped it would look and with the others, they were nothing new. I still have to perfect the chiffon cake. Back to the soba, I'm so excited and I can't wait to go to the Pacific Ocean Market downtown to buy ingredients and some other goodies. ^o^ My interests in Japan Deco and fashion have also been revived so I might a...

My long weekend [10-13-2009]

I was so surprised at how long this past weekend lasted. I think it's due mostly to the fact that I woke up super early. xD On Friday, it was a fairly normal, boring day, just chillaxing after the week of school. Then Saturday rolled by as usual and then on Sunday, that's when things got interesting. I woke up a lot earlier than I usually do because I wanted to see my cousin, her bf, his bro, and her kids and have breakfast with them (in case I didn't get a chance to see them again). I woke up at about 6:00am and got ready to leave by 7:00am. Me, dad, and Karyn drove up to Loveland to pick them up from the hotel they were at. It was a very nice hotel, an Embassy Suites I believe. It was hilarious because I called Tiff when we got there and she didn't pick up her phone a couple times. We found out a little later that they slept in. lol It's funny because it seems like something I might do. We actually went up to their room to meet them and saw Chuck...

My oddly eventful week [9-19-2009]

Miss Saigon On Tuesday, Sept. 15, I went with Mom and Karyn to the play called Miss Saigon that was playing south in the Arvada Center. It was a rare thing as plays are continuously moving from state to state. I haven't been to a play since I was in elementary or early middle school. I was pretty excited but I didn't expect to be SO impressed by the actors. They were all very talented and I was so moved! I was teary-eyed on a good few parts and then cried at the tragic ending. It's one of those plays that give you the chills on a lot of parts. I was so into it. The story of Miss Saigon is about a girl (Kim) that's sold to a whore house in Saigon, Vietnam and she meets this American G.I. soldier because his friend bought her for him. He's initially against the entire whore house thing but after he finds out that Kim is a virgin, he falls for her innocence and purity. The story revolves around Kim and her life of how her love, the American soldier Chris,...

Almost finished with this semester

I really shouldn't be writing in here this late.. ugh, I am so torn between using my other blog vs this blog.. I guess I'll just use the other blog for drama reviews or whatever since I really have no idea.. Anyway, I'm almost finished with this semester and I am so happy! ^^ Just two more days of school and I'm free for winter break! It's really too bad because I still have zero urge to shop and that's pretty much the only thing I can really do here. I've been wanting to go to this H-Mart downtown but it's a REALLY long drive down there and I don't wanna drive. I'm pretty sure that taking the bus there would take half a day considering all the transfers but I'll have to look into it. I am so procrastinating on my paintings too. They're really graphicy.. If that makes any sense. Maybe I'll post them on here but I don't really want to. I'll have to make a watermark on them.. So, that's about it for now. I ...

Wow, I haven't signed into here in FoReVeR!!!

Haha, It's been a while since I've been on this blog. I guess it's because I "thought" that I forgot the password to get into here and didn't believe I could retrieve it because my email for this account was deleted. It turns out that I didn't forget my password and ended up making an entirely new blog. o_O Anyway, life's been pretty boring for the past few months. I finally ended the dreadful summer art class with the annoying teacher (... maybe 'annoying' isn't the word I'm really looking for. Think of it this way: she's one of those teachers that you just can't stand and it's very difficult to explain why because the problem runs so deep. It's almost like we were enemies or didn't like each other in a past life. It's that kind of feeling so I'm gonna go along with it). I also ended that history class and sadly, I got a B when I think I should have gotten an A with all the effort I put into the wor...

My EMO time

The background is changed to black yet again. I have a fairly short interest span so I can never really keep a background for long. Some of the songs are emo too so bear with me. They're good songs though. Sometimes I like listening to rock/emo music and sometimes I'm into the direct opposite with happy pop/rock music. I guess it all depends on how I feel and right now, I'm sort of tired with thinking of ideas for my art class. That class is a good 3 hours of brainstorming at once. -___- Our history teacher also kinda had to bail out on us and our new history teacher has more workload, adding a book report and group presentations. Ick... Okaaay, I'll stop complaining now since my life really isn't that difficult. That always makes me wonder though, does that really give other people the right to say that we people who don't live on our own have NO right to complain about ANYTHING at all? Personally, I think that's kind of unfair but there still...

Random update (note: pictures are from a couple months ago)

Babykins enjoying the sun after the unexpected frost. Sooo cuuuute! >.< Isn't this just cozy? lol I'll probably do a compare picture with this one. Now it's all green and sunny so wouldn't it be cool if there was this same picture except a summer scene? x3 Frosty tulips~. Sad thing is that out of the 10 tulips, only these two bloomed... T.T Pink really is a strong color after all. May 14th, 2009: --I find it so hard to organize my thoughts these days. It's very frustrating at times. I'll bet it's because I'm having this internal debate on whether I should attempt enrolling into one of two colleges. I finally got the transfer class guide for one but also the other. I'm telling myself that I'll try going for whichever one is cheaper. One of the colleges also wants me to add in 12 or so computer designs with all layers intact for them to look over to see what I can do on computer design programs (i.e. photoshop, photoshop il...

Artist block?

I seriously can't think of any good ideas for creative art right now. It really sucks. I believe that it's because I'm all caught up in college class planning. I recently visited the MGD counselor of our college and of course, that led me to having to see yet another counselor. The whole problem was that I wanted to make sure the classes I took at this college would be able to transfer to the other college. It turns out that only ' academic ' courses are guaranteed transfer and all other MGD courses are questionable.... shit. I also have to make an appointment for my re-badging because where I work, we're required to have badges renewed every year... Okay, so back to my artist block. It's so weird. Sometimes, I'm full of ideas and others, I have no idea of what to create. I'm hoping that it won't be this bad if I actually do get a career job in a creative art field where I have to be coming up with ideas constantly. Such pressure... l...
