Spring skipped out this year & Mother's Day Adventures

Image
Starting off with a beautiful shot of the sunset. It's really hot these days and this has been going on since April.  I'm seriously considering that maybe global warming isn't total bs after all.  :/ The temperature has been in the 80's and it only backs down into the high 70's on cooler days.  I find it a bit sad because my tulips really took a beating this year.  There were rarely any days with mild spring weather and instead, we were met with either super cold snowy days or scorching hot days... wtf. It's like it's getting hotter and dryer each year.  Here's proof: http://mikun-revenge.blogspot.com/2011/08/spring-2011.html The spring from a couple years ago was so much more flowery with much, much cooler weather.  Now look at it...  My tulips are dry and deader than ever and flowers were pretty much nonexistent save for a few blossoms here and there. This year, it's like we jumped straight into summer without having the chance to enjo...

Finally free! :D

Yesssss!  I'm finally finished with spring semester!!!! (ノ〃^▽^〃)ノ。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚オメデトー♪ I'm so happy because for the last few days I was really wanting to move on with my life already.  xD All you people who've been through finals know what I'm talking about! I (sort of) tried my best to study really hard for the last couple of days and I think it paid off since I got a B on my last exam.  YaY!  Right now I'm very cozy in my bedroom watching a good K-drama after a day's hard work.   Can you guess the K-drama?  Hint: The name in the subtitles I'm quite ecstatic because I accomplished everything I planned such as buying my mom roses for Mother's Day , making a test batch of chocolate strawberries, baking her shortbread cookies, and getting all my ingredients ready for the chapchae dish I'll be making her either tomorrow or on Sunday.  It feels good to get everything done on a checklist. Here's the strawberries. This is my first...

Headphones, yogurt, and bubble tea

Do you ever have that moment where you buy something cool online only to find it in a store nearby?  ( -__-) .... That happened recently but I'm very happy to say that I saved some money anyway simply by purchasing it online. Online shopping   >   Regular shopping The headphones in question are these white Sony headphones and I bought it for about $14. Aren't they cute? Overall, I'm happy with this purchase although I don't like the fact that the headphones flatten my hair.  I'm not sure how I'll get around that issue though.  Another awesome fact about these headphones is that they don't give me a headache!  Usually when I wear headbands, headphones, or anything else that clings to my head, I end up with a headache after just a few hours of wearing them.  Not with these babies!  But the downfall of the wideness of the headphones is that it makes the top of my head look flat unless I style my hair to compensate. You won't ge...

Some winter cooking

Image
Even though it's been getting warmer these days, I'm still inspired to cook hot stews and soups.  x3 Here's a few of the dishes I've made over the past couple of weeks.   Beef Curry This may sound silly but my inspirations for making any kind of stew comes from watching Brock cook in the show Pokemon.  I still remember watching it as a child and my earliest memories of anime characters cooking was seeing Brock cook for his friends.   Because of this, I always think about his stews when I make my own.  xP I even cut up the potatoes into more spherical shapes to achieve the anime aesthetics.   And does anyone else notice that food always looks tastier in Anime?  Their food always looks so delicious!!! Examples: Now back to my own dishes... Nikujaga I really wanted to put our portable hot pot to use so I looked up some recipes similar to oden and came across nikujaga.   It's beef and potatoes m...

It's about f**cking time I blog again

It's been a while.  WTF, I always seems to say this so I'm just gonna skip all that shit, lol.  We finally have everything back upstairs.  So what has been happening all this while?  Well, for one thing, the flooring guys finally finished the floor at the very end of August!  Now everything is officially moved back to their respective places. The crazy thing is, after all that $$$ spent on flooring, the washing machine broke down not long after the flooring was finished.   (o_O)  I suggested to Mom that the entire family should pitch in to buy the new washing machine.  It only makes sense as everyone in the family has their clothes washed.  Eventually we all did it that way which I thought was awesome because it really buffed off the edge of the cost that would have been to only our parents.  The new washing machine is a Samsung brand and it has these really cute electronic chimes the indicate certain functions such as different washi...

Kakigori time!!!

Image
This past Wednesday, I finally got my kakigori ice shaver in the mail~! ^o^ I bought it on Amazon for $25. I really don't care if it was a rip off or not. There's no place anywhere near my house where I could have bought this and I couldn't seem to find it anywhere online. u.u I found it through lafujimama so I'll have to trust her sources. I'm really excited to finally use the ichigo kakigori recipe that lafujimama posted on her blog. She is awesome for sharing that info because I don't know when I would have gotten the idea to make cream ice. I've eaten it before at an awesome yogurt cafe but didn't really know how to make that kind of sweet ice. I found out later that it was sweetened condensed milk. They put cream/milk ice on the bottom, pile on fresh fruits, and put a big swirl of their original yogurt on top. It's soooooo yummy!! I wanna go back now... can't wait until the summer where it will be really hot outside. The yog...

Cute Apple Pie

Image
Now I know why I haven't been posting any pics in so long. It's because I accidentally put my camera cord in a box that I stashed away up high in my closet.. Of course it's the last place I look. D: I must have been in denial. So the latest and greatest, I finally baked an apple pie from scratch! Even the filling! Yay~!!! I tried my best with the cross hatch thing on the top of the pie. It seemed difficult at first but it really isn't. I subscribe so some awesome cooking gurus and this recipe was by this Japanese guy. His username is runnyrunny999.. I think his name is contradictory to his videos, you know, the word runny doesn't make me think of anything pleasant. Buuuuuuuuuuuut anyway! Back to the main topic, I think his recipes are awesome; simple yet aesthetically pleasing. More detail of the crosshatch. I added beaten egg yolks on the top to get that crispy brown color. Should have added more egg yolk... damn. I haven't tasted it ye...
