It's spring again!

Hello, hello! Today was okay.  I finally got through my three days with that one coworker...  If you've read previous posts, you've already seen all my complaining , discussion about that micromanaging, condescending, crazy person I work with 85% of the time. Anyhow, I'm happy since the weather has been getting so much nicer.  The pretty pink flowers in our tree are finally in bloom. There's nothing like taking a walk and then all of a sudden, see a beautiful pink blossomed tree.  I feel so special since our house is the only house with a pink blossom tree like this. x3  It almost looks like a real Sakura tree... I've started to get into self-help books such as this one: This is a book I found in our basement while we were cleaning out stuff for donation.  I decided to keep it and I'm glad I did.  It gives some really great advice and I feel like I'm on my way to becoming a wise, young sage.. lol I might quote some stuff from this ...

These days... and the week before

Hello everyone, Happy April-!  Sorry I've been kind of a downer for the last post or two..  Lots of stuff happening at work since it's 'school field trip season', which means lots of kids and people going through at work.. and it's LOUD. xP After working at this job, I feel so much more empathy for all those front desk directory/information employees I saw in Japan (esp train stations).... actually, this goes for anywhere else in the world.  Front desk jobs may look comfortable and carefree but it can get so incredibly stressful! And this is especially if one has a disagreeable coworker.  I'm having to deal with my sometimes hated and sometimes not-so-hated coworker.  I swear, she's got one foot in and one foot out of my sh*t list. lol.  I also have a certification test coming up towards the end of the month so I'll have to practice, practice, practice if I don't want to spend another $100 or so dollars for another test.  Screw that!  My motiva...

Workplace ethic: complainers are endearing?

This is something I've observed over the years of working at a variety of jobs.  There are two people involved in this situation: The enabler and the complainer . The conversation is usually small talk with the complainer well, complaining in a whiny kind of way, and the enabler smiling, laughing, agreeing, and making it seem like the complainer is the most endearing and interesting person in the world.  I really don't get why this is.  I mean, I don't like listening to others complain all day..  Not in a whiny manner that is.  Maybe it's because I have a more proactive approach to my problems. I personally don't like this behavior because it reinforces bad work ethic in the workplace and it lowers morale.  This is the evolved complaining culture of America where complaining is a conversational topic anywhere and anytime in a work setting with little to no consequence.  It's non-productive and sadly, contagious.  It also baffles me why some...

Should I or shouldn't I?

I'm at a sort of crossroad right now.  Recently, I've 'temporarily' landed a new job.  It pays better, I won't have to deal with clothes, and I have a set schedule.  But it's temporary.. D: The reason I'm starting to think about the big 'Q' word is also because there's upcoming schedule conflicts and I'm starting to feel the effects of the "downer culture" in the workplace.  What is "downer culture?"  I'll give an example. I walk into the break room for my 30 minute lunch.  I open the door and there's a bunch of my coworkers chatting.  Great.  Walking over, I grab a seat and sit nearby.  Now one would hope that coworkers could have a nice chat about some mindless cr*p about the weather or even a TV show they watched recently.  I wouldn't even mind if they were talking politics.  But no, 90% of the time, they're b*tching about work and repeating sh*t that everyone already knows about.  They're not th...

Quickie update: Pending blogs

Hi guys!  Sorry I haven't dropped in for so long.  I've been somewhat busy with work and just getting over my day of corporate slavery (sorry for the previous long emo rant btw, lol). Nothing new going on yet.  I've been downloading a lot of new anime series to go through so look forward to some reviews!  I'm currently re -watching FMA Brotherhood just because it's so amazing no matter how many times I watch it. Today was okay.  I switched shifts with a coworker yesterday so I could get a longer shift today (yay me for assertiveness!).  It was quite unexpected but I needed more hours anyway.  Speaking of work, omg, I've still been applying online and nothing has come up yet...  Why???!!!!!  xP We had a large shipment of products today so I was unpacking a lot of jewelry/accessory items.  It's pretty fun at first but after a while, you start to wonder why the people doing the packing don't just put everything in one big bag and make...

Corporate slave

Here I am in my cozy room sipping some fruit punch soda (it's really refreshing btw ^^).  It's still drizzling outside.  I guess monsoon season has officially started because I've noticed the steady increase in rainfall.  Not that I'm complaining.  ;)  I really love the rain.  It's like all of the crap from earlier never happened.  As I left from work, the weather mocked me with its cool, steady drops of rain and the sun giving its last farewell for the day, peaking through the clouds.  I even saw a double rainbow! Today, I was literally the definition of a corporate slave.  Below is Urban Dictionary's definition: "1. corporate slave   The people who make the business world go round and round, without them executives might actually have to do something besides make rules to make it more difficult for the slaves under them to do their job. Corporate slaves are easily identifiable by the vacant look in their eyes a...

Weird crackhead at work yesterday

I closed at work yesterday and alas, I had to face the rigors of the night shift... lol, okay it wasn't all that bad but I was a little freaked out by Mr. Crackhead who was twitching around all over the store.  ( ಠ_ಠ ) So I was in my department, just minding my own business and I see this dude walking around (Note: I didn't notice anything weird at the time).  I say hello, how are you, and then ask him if he needs help with anything.  I do notice at this point that his eyes were really wide open and bloodshot.  Seriously would this scare you because it made me feel a bit scared. lol It's weird because I got this sort of feeling as if he was this serial killer or something.  Like the type of feeling you get when you think you've just met this person who's going to kill everyone in the vicinity.  Sorry for the visual but I was getting that vibe from him. On top of all of this, last night I watched the most recent episode of game of thrones "The Rains o...

My experience working at a 'Posh' Department Store: The PROS and CONS

I mentioned in my last post that I got a job, finally! ( ^  o ^ ) ~*  I've been with this job for few weeks so far and I've already got most of my opinion about it.  The working pace is fast moving in these higher end department stores so if you work enough, you learn the system quickly. So I won't mention any store names because I'm a private person who doesn't like to give out super personal info.  Get used to it! lol I don't want to get too wordy here.  It's an area of my writing style that I'm trying to improve.  NOTE: I WILL be ranting like crazy on the 'cons' topics so readers beware-! Now for the pros and cons: PROS - Cool co -w orkers (...... At least, most of them are cool, really helpful, and overall fun to work with. xP  Having awesome co -workers c an make ALL the difference in the world.  They make you actu ally ENJOY being at work and even wa nting to stay longer at the end of the day!  lol  At least, in my case,...

Finally finishing Kiosk job~!!! xDDDDD

I started working at this kiosk in the mall to earn some extra $$$ but now that I think back, it was a bit of sacrificed time with being so boring here. Now that I've had the experience of working in a kiosk opposed to a shop, I would describe it as being at the very bottom of the retail food chain, at least, that's how it goes in our mall. People working at this kiosk cannot even go to the restroom without someone from another store watching our space for us. We're also sort of stuck standing here for a good 5 hours at a time without any lunch break or any break for that matter. :( I'm proud of myself that I stuck it out for at least 3 months which most of it was during my school semester and I was pretty busy the whole time. This job actually did something good aside from earning money; it made this past semester practically fly by. I admit this job wasn't completely crappy. It was just the slowness and boring long hours of time of just standing ...

Hard Sleeper

I slept till past noon again... *Sigh..* not something I'm too proud of. I got carried away last night updating blogger. (-__-) It can be too addicting figuring out the html and browsing cute widgets~ Work was slightly boring this past weekend but it was better on Sunday. Sometimes the sales are just so dead, time passes by very slowly. It's a good thing I brought a book but sometimes even that doesn't help because I can't be reading my book for a long stretch of time while lots of people are coming in and out of the shop (it's somewhat rude).. May I make note that even though there can be lots of people if the sales are dead, it still feels like a slow day. (T^T) So it makes sense that I would spend all that remaining brainpower figuring out html coding at 2:00 in the morning ne??? (>.<) I'd better get myself REALLY busy today so I can fall asleep at a more appropriate time. Perhaps I'll be more tired. Can't have this going on w...
