Absorbed in my hobbies

Baby kale sprouts As my job hunt continues, I need things to focus on to keep from despairing. That sounds depressing.. But it's so true. It's not easy to find a job these days. I started gardening and the first plants I tried were kale seeds. My mom had them and intended to grow kale last year but never got to it. I beat her to the punch and planted these little guys. And they grew! I'm really happy because I always thought of myself as a plant killer. Hopefully by doing my research, I'll have good results with the kale. I also planted some flower seeds: morning glories, forget-me-nots, bachelor's buttons, and oriental poppies. I'm a bit worried about the poppies. Some describe them to be like a weed although I guess they're picky? There were some reviews talking about how poppies can be difficult to grow in pots. Other reviews say they're easy to grow. We'll see. My other favorite hobby is cooking and baking. I made cream stew again last ...

June, 2016 Favorites

I often see people doing these kinds of things for makeup on youtube so I thought I would make my own list of things I've been liking this past June. ^^ 1. Body Shop Satsuma Body Butter I got this from a local Marshall's and it smells so nice! It's citrus so it's more energizing and it makes my hands feel so soft. 2. The Flash TV Series Nuff said. I wrote a post all about how much I love this show. It even made me start watching DC animations, the most recent one being Young Justice which is also amazing. (*o*) 3. Bunny Wrist Rest I found this baby in a Daiso store while in Seoul, Korea. I didn't think much of it at first, just that it would be interesting to try out. But it's proven to be wonderful and feels like a luxury cushion for my wrist. 4. Final Fantasy XIII-2 I bought this while it was on sale on the PlayStation Network. Long story short, I had some money in there from a game purchase mistake refund. I know this game gets a...

Cooking for Christmas

Image
So much cooking today...! (~ - o -)~ Even though I only made two things. Every year, I cook something for Christmas and New Years. Usually the traditional Japanese dishes because well, I'm Japanese... and it's convenient since I already know how to make this stuff. I've posted what I cooked on Christmas before but almost always, it's chicken katsu and Christmas cake. A nicer Christmas cake/hot pot from (2014) Christmas cake (2014) At times I think I should be more spontaneous and make a different kind of Christmas cake besides the standard strawberry shortcake. But I'm too lazy to learn to perfect a new recipe...  That's pretty much all I did today. A lot of cooking. I don't think I left the house, wow.

Ramen with an Egg and Anime

Image
This evening, I was lazy so I decided to make some ramen.  It was a spicy Korean ramen and the picture on the package had a cracked egg in it.  So I put a cracked egg in mine, just to see if it was good.   yum yum~! I also added some cooked chicken. It was pretty tasty and the egg gives the ramen a whole new dimension.  It makes it more.. rich I think... but I'll probably leave out the egg next time.  I felt like a lot of it went to waste since I don't drink the soup. The egg does make it look more authentic though..  xD Now I'm gonna watch Soul Eater. It's one of my top recommended anime (still need to write a review for it).  The art style is fun and quirky and the story is hilarious yet has a deep theme.  I like how one of the main themes is about partnership and what it really means.  This is my second or third time watching through the series.  That's how good it is! x3  I'll probably read the manga soon....

These days... and the week before

Hello everyone, Happy April-!  Sorry I've been kind of a downer for the last post or two..  Lots of stuff happening at work since it's 'school field trip season', which means lots of kids and people going through at work.. and it's LOUD. xP After working at this job, I feel so much more empathy for all those front desk directory/information employees I saw in Japan (esp train stations).... actually, this goes for anywhere else in the world.  Front desk jobs may look comfortable and carefree but it can get so incredibly stressful! And this is especially if one has a disagreeable coworker.  I'm having to deal with my sometimes hated and sometimes not-so-hated coworker.  I swear, she's got one foot in and one foot out of my sh*t list. lol.  I also have a certification test coming up towards the end of the month so I'll have to practice, practice, practice if I don't want to spend another $100 or so dollars for another test.  Screw that!  My motiva...

New Years food: Panda Express and Hot pots! ( ^ o ^ )

Image
Sorry for the latepost.  I just had to put up these pics since I spend soooo much time editing them, lol.  I hope you all enjoy the #foodporn! Our family had a nice, quiet New Years.  My parents went out to a party and so I decided to experiment with the hot pot again. I'm really happy because we finally have an Asian market reasonably close by where I can purchase thin sliced beef.  ( "^ v ^" ) I didn't have a lot of the ingredients that sukiyaki calls for such as the enoki mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, Chinese cabbage, or shirataki noodles (my fault for bad planning...).  But I made do with basic cabbage, tofu, boiled eggs, and the sliced beef. It turned out okay but I hope that next time, I can get all the ingredients I need. My brother bought a Panda Feast on his way home and I made it look pretty.  xD We also cooked some fried chicken.  It was a good day.  ^^ And that's not all!  I made some ramen that night so ...

Hot as frick

It's been so HOT these days...  It's so bad that it's hard to get to sleep....   I don't have a themostat in my room but I'm guessing it must be in the high 80's since it's usually somewhere in the 90's during the day.  What sucks more is that there's no breeze!  Mother nature, why must you be so cruel?!  D: I've been spending most of my days job hunting online and just trying to save $$$ really.  I'm putting my foot down to not push myself so hard at work because believe it or not, working at a department store with clothing is more strenuous than one may think.  I had an awesome talk with one of my coworkers last night (who actually talks with me) about how it sucks so much to work in women's clothing.  There's lots of times where I feel like I'm an alien since I can't seem to connect with anyone.  She reminded me that I might not be from another planet after all. x3 A couple of days ago, I had a "never again...

Eating out a lot & a tiny bit of stupid drama

Image
My face was soooo puffy today... xD I really shouldn't have drank that miso soup last night... I usually update my instagram a lot when it concerns food so if anyone bothered looking on there, they would know that we had take-out Japanese bento boxes yesterday.  ^^  And they gave us a LOT of miso soup (3 containers that held about 2 1/2 cups each)!  I couldn't help it... the soup was soooo good and I ended up drinking a whole container. ( ~ . ~ ) Speaking of instagram, does anyone else have this experience of following a friend/family on instagram and for so long, they never notice your existence and when you for whatever reason, un-follow them, then they take notice and follow you back?  Seriously... wth?  Coincidence much?  Do they like me more now that I'm playing hard to get?     I'll never understand. **And update!   So this cousin of mine follows, then un-follows in the same day.  Initially, I don't know what to think....
