The Heirs: I finally get to see Lee Min Ho in a 'rich-boy poor-girl' drama AGAIN! xD

Image
Release date: October, 2013 Director: Kang Shin Hyo Writer: Kim Eun Sook Actors: Lee Min Ho, Park Shin Hye, Yoon Jin Seo Episodes: 20 Genre: Romance, Chaebol The excitement of the great Lee Min Ho starring in a chaebol drama reached my ears soon after it was released. This drama gets off to a good start.  Fated soul mates meet in the foreign and exotic land of Orange County and go through various escapades together and eventually fall in love.  Only later do they meet up again in Korea and realize their vast social class differences.. Yet fate has it that they're living under the same roof!  Cohabitation drama it is!  I'm not a big fan of the first few episodes taking place in Cali (as novel as it may seem) with all the stereotypical 'white people' of America but what can you do...  Koreans going to school in America has been a long-standing, strange rite of passage that's slightly difficult for me to understand. At least the American setting ...

K-Drama: Flower Boy Next Door

Image
Flower Boy Next Door is a really cute and cozy K-drama to snuggle up with for the winter season!  The story revolves around an agoraphobic girl Go Dok Mi (Park Shin Hye) who has a habit of peeping on a guy living across from her apartment, Enrique Geum (Yoon Shi Yoon) who is the friendly eccentric brother of the guy Dok Mi is peeping on, and Oh Jin Rak (Kim Ji Hoon) the hapless romantic neighbor who lives next door to Dok Mi. I found the theme of the urge to peep on handsome strangers to be very different and unique.  I also enjoyed Dok Mi's journey to getting out of her agoraphobic tendencies through Enrique.  The romance is very innocent and I love Dok Mi's cute practical fashion. The layering is just adorable!  I love her sweaters Flower Boy Next Door gets extra kudos because they added yet another unique factor and that was casting a Japanese actor as a supporting character. Watanabe Ryu (Mizuta Kouki) moves into Dok Mi and Jin Rak...

K-Dramas on Netflix: Secret Garden

Image
I've started seeing lots of new K-dramas popping up on netflix.  My sis is already addicted to the Boys Before Flowers (BBF) drama, even though she's re-watching the episodes.  When I watch it again, I can see how ridiculous and cheesy the script is.  It's probably the outrageous scenarios that make that drama entertaining.  I also laugh because I wonder if some of the dramas are legit..... because the subtitles for BBF are HUGE , lmao.  Honestly, on some of the wordier parts of the drama, the subtitles literally fill half the TV screen. Back to the main topic, most of the Netflix K-dramas are the ones I've already watched a while back such as BBF, Winter Sonata, Playful Kiss, My Girlfriend is a Gumiho, Protect the Boss, Lie to Me, etc.  There's actually a search genre for Korean dramas on the Netflix website I think.  Type in something like Korean TV Shows . I recently got to watching the one called Secret Garden starring Ha Ji Won and Hyun ...

Finally finished Rooftop Prince~!!!

Image
I skipped out on so many of these reviews that I'm falling behind...  I recall watching and finishing about 3 more dramas earlier this year: Bachelor's Vegetable Store, Hungry!, and most recently finished, Rooftop Prince~!!!  <3 (^o^) This drama was really funny and had a good balance of happy, sad, and hilarious scenes.  All the actors were great, I especially enjoyed watching the prince and his three musketeers and their adaptation to the 20th century from the Joseon era. x3 I honestly never thought that I would get into watching DBSK's Micky Yoochun in a drama but I was pleasantly surprised and found that he has an amazing talent for acting as well as singing.  He has proved himself attractive as an actor in my eyes ("*o*") Micky, how are you so flawless~~~?!  \(>o<)/ I don't speak Korean but I felt that his performance as a Joseon prince was quite good and to me, it seemed like he did the role justice. I love these guys! Th...

Ouran High School Host Club Review: So wonderful but too short-lived!

Image
Yeh, yeh, I know. I have no life right now to have time for all these dramas. xP The amount of dramas I watch come in waves. Now happens to be peak drama season for me. (*__*) This is one of those dramas where I thought it would be really stupid but then it blows me away by it's awesomeness. I finished it in less than two weeks too! Record time for a drama series although this series was also a short one.... so sad, it was really great! I remember watching the anime for this show way back when but I don't think I got to the end. Anyway, from what I've seen, the characters were chosen VERY nicely. I don't even care if Tamaki's and Honey senpai's hair isn't blonde as that seems to be a pet peeve for a lot of hardcore fans. Whatever, I think they did an excellent job with their characters. But the one and only person who I thought was so so sooooo PERFECT for his role was the actor Daito Shunsuke who played Kyouya. He is the GOD of sexy mega...

Just finished watching my first period drama: The Moon that Embraces the Sun!

Image
This was one of the 'popular' dramas I saw on mysoju. I never really got into a period/historical drama before and since everyone was raving about "The Moon that Embraces the Sun" being so amazing, I decided to give it a shot. Of course, I get addicted from the start, lol. This drama is clever too because I usually start to lose interest from the mid to ending part of the drama but this one kept me hooked until the end. They've got some pretty nice cliffhangers for each of the episodes. The story is one of those that starts off with the characters as children and then they transition over to adulthood. The beginning is shown to be tragic but there is redemption at the end. Cool story, likeable characters, colorful costume designs, and beautiful historic scenery; mostly of the palace and villages. The synopsis is somewhat complicated so it would probably be better to just look at it on dramawiki. In my short summary, I say that this is about a girl who f...

Skip Beat Review: Live-Action Drama!!!

Image
The long-anticipated Skip Beat has finally come out in live action! I was surprised when I saw this on mysoju whilst skimming the newly added shows. Skip Beat AKA Extravagant Challenge, is a Taiwanese drama that stars Korean actors, Siwon and Donghae along with Taiwanese main actress, Ivy Chen. The drama is based off the original Japanese manga, "Skip Beat" by Nakamura Yoshiki. After watching the first episode, I found myself a bit torn because there are some situations that are a bit too comical and ridiculous in humor. An example would be the scene where Gong Xi (Mogami Kyoko) is riding her bike inhumanly fast to get a poster at a store. I guess this drama is going to be one of those that religiously stay true to the manga so I just brush off the ridiculousness. The episodes actually do get better and much funnier/heartfelt as they go on. I watched up to episode 4 and so far so good! The humor gets a lot less ridiculous after the first two episodes. Ivy Chen does an...
