Update April 2013

And again I procrastinate horribly...  I try to make it a goal to blog every week but it's hard for me since I can never be consistently motivated.  ╮(─▽─)╭

So what have I been up to for these past few weeks?

Where to start..  The first week, I was working on updating my blog layout, moving things here and there, changing up the background, updating the header picture, and just organizing categories and labels for all my posts.
I also still have my pathophys class that should be over in only a few weeks~!tuzki13

I'm mostly working extra this week (gotta save up the cash moneys), and waiting for my two orders in the mail.  I recently purchased some products from RoseRoseShop because they have awesome prices on their Korean cosmetics.  It's only taking forever to get here though...
I also ordered a shorter peacoat and that's taking forever to get here as well.  *Sigh* this is the price I pay for cheaper costs...

When I finally get the my orders in the mail, I'll be sure to blog about it with product reviews and such because there were a lot of neat items such as serum sunscreen and lip tints that I've never purchased before so I'm super excited!  :D

I've still been watching K-dramas; my craving for them has not gone away.  So many new dramas are coming out and I can never keep up!  I even found out that Full House was re-made with new actors.  I'm not too sure about watching it though because the character's hairstyles are so outrageous (I might not be able to take it) and the girl looks too much like an ajumma with her Asian-Afro.

Now I know you're probably thinking I'm being shallow but seriously, watch this trailer and tell me then what you think:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9KhgXJT2Fs

Here's a few of the dramas I've been watching these days:

The Innocent Man (Nice Guy)

This is a melodrama and doesn't really have much comedy but it's really awesome if you like watching dramas about love, betrayal, and revenge.

The story is about this guy who was in love with this girl but she accidentally murdered a man and agreed to let her guy friend take the fall for her.  He lost almost everything and eventually finds out that she was a gold digging whore who married into a wealthy family.  He then decides to take revenge on her by pursuing her stepdaughter.

 Full House

I'm actually re-watching this drama with my sis because she has never seen this timeless classic.  I recall watching this a while back, it must have been over 4 years now and it still hasn't gotten old.

I can still laugh at 'Miss Wonderbra' (lady on the left) as she has the strangest preference of showing off her pushup bra in almost every outfit she wears, even the one in the pic above! tuzki65

As for the story, it's about this girl who's friends trick her into going off on a trip to China only to sell off her house and take all her money (yea, like this could actually happen in real life? lol)

She eventually finds out that a popular movie star has purchased her house and  she vows to get it back, even signing a fake marriage contract with the actor.  This drama super cute, has a ton of sweet moments, and is a pioneer in the cohabitation drama genre.

*Available on Netflix*

Stars Falling from the Sky

This is another drama that I'm re-watching after seeing it on Netflix.  I still find it insanely adorable, especially with all the kids involved.

This drama is about a spoiled girl who only seems to care for herself and her needs.  She has had a mad crush on this lawyer for years but can never get his attention.  Her parents somehow die in a freak car accident, leaving her to care for her 5 siblings.  She somehow gets a job working in the lawyer's house and sneaks her siblings in with her.

Once again, this is under the popular genre of a cohabitation drama where the girl lives with the guy.

*Available on Netflix*

Moving on to cartoons/anime, I have been watching...

I have officially jumped onto the Adventure Time bandwagon.

The show is hilarious and I love it.  I've almost caught up to the current episode that's most recently aired after my Adventure time marathon for the past few days.  I would watch this show non-stop for at least a few hours/day.

The only anime I've been sticking to right now is called Xam'd: Lost Memories (available on Netflix) and it's produced by Aniplex and Bones.

It's a cool story with amazing animation; it's like a mix of a Miyazaki movie and FMA Brotherhood.  It's a real treat to watch and the story is intriguing and mysterious.

I don't have much more to say, sorry... tuzki61  I guess my life isn't all that eventful right now; it's mostly routine stuff.

Hopefully I should be writing another post soon for my haul from RoseRoseShop!

Me and my lazyass self + clothing haul

I've been sooo lazy, I don't even know why...  image I've really gotta get off my ass and do something!  I thought writing in this blog might get my brain motivated to study.

I still have one class I'm going to have to finish so that means study, study, study for the upcoming exams.

Well, at least I have something to be proud of today since I cooked some miso soup and rice. ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ

I recently ventured out to my local mall and stopped by the only store I visit, Forever21.  I was so happy because I finally found a couple of dresses for the spring to wear with my cardigans!  The bottom two are the dresses and the top are spring blouses.

Not only that, but I finally took the plunge and purchased a pea coat on yesstyle.com for around $68 total (shipping included).

I'm quite happy with it and glad I took the opportunity to buy it while it was around 30% off.  During the holidays, I saw something like this and it was around $72 without a discount.  I waited and waited for it to go on sale but it never did and I regretted not buying it because once it got taken off the site, I could never find that same style without it being around $180! (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻

Okay, so now this is gonna sound bad but I was feeling kind of crazy at the moment.  While I was browsing on ebay, I came across similar Korean styled pea coats that were the shorter length variety and they were so much cheaper, even with the $10.99 shipping!  So the total of this one was about $40 with the shipping included.
I ended up purchasing this pea coat on ebay and I'm hoping that the quality of it is at least somewhat as good as the first pea coat I bought.

I was seriously thinking about getting the yellow color because it looked cool but I ended up choosing beige since it's just more versatile.

My inspiration for pea coats and slightly more dressy clothing these days is probably coming from these tumblr images I've seen recently.

I don't know if it's mori-girl inspired but it just looks so elegant and natural and I really want to get this kind of style.
That's about all for now with clothes.  I can't wait to mix and match with some outfits~!image

Anime Review: Mushi Shi

Mushi  Shi is a beautiful and engaging anime with no continuous plot; Even so, it somehow manages to keep us wondering what will happen next.

Plot: "They are neither plants nor animals. They differ from other forms of life such as the micro-organisms and the fungi. Instead they resemble the primeval body of life and are generally known as "Mushi". Their existence and appearance are unknown to many and only a limited number of humans are aware of them. Ginko is a "Mushi-shi" who travels around to investigate and find out more about the "Mushi". In the process, he also lends a helping hand to people who face problems with supernatural occurances which may be related to the "Mushi"." Anime News Network

I finished this series about a couple months back but was too lazy to review it.  This was a very enjoyable series and it's available on Netflix as of now.  I highly recommend it to anyone who's interested in thoughtful stories about the supernatural.

 STORY

What's amazing about Mushi Shi is the fact that although there isn't a continuous plot, it's still intriguing enough to keep us wanting more.  There is a very mysterious air about the story; it revolves around the beings called "mushi" and how they affect their environment, sometimes in very grotesque ways.  With no narrative thread, it's like you're watching a new adventure within each episode; it's quite the refreshing change.  The only downfall is if an episode's story happened to be dull, there isn't much else to think about outside of that micro-plot.

 ANIMATION

The animation is truly beautiful; its lush environments and soft lighting draws you in as it has a dream-like effect.  Much of the scenery is pensive and thought provoking; true to Japanese artwork, great detail is often placed on a single object as small as a flower.  Expect to see vast expanses of luscious scenery and typical shots of Edo or Meiji period Japan.

The movement of the characters flowed nicely and I noticed that there aren't too many action scenes; you're left to appreciate the richly illustrated backgrounds.  The story takes center stage in this anime.

 SOUND

The music is delicate and pretty.  There's a lot of traditional Japanese string instruments incorporated and it's my wild guess that it could be a Koto or Shamisen.  Chimes are also heard quite often, mixed into in the music.  It brings with it a peaceful and tranquil feeling to the setting.

The voice acting was well done.  I feel that as long as the main character Ginko's voice is good, nothing else really matters as there's only side characters left.  I'm sort of a sucker for Colonel Mustang's voice actor so you could say I'm somewhat biased.  But besides that, I think Travis Willingham was a good choice to portray Ginko because his voice has a very deep and serious tone which matches Ginko's character very well.

 OVERALL
RATING: 9/10

I liked this series a lot, even though the plot was not continuous.  I've never seen an anime quite like this one because it mixes traditional Japan and the supernatural.  You would think that this would be a common formula for anime series!  Maybe I haven't watched enough anime...

If you're looking for a laid back yet mysteriously intriguing anime, Mushi Shi is the perfect choice.

Just for fun, while I was taking pictures outside one night, I thought it was so cool that some of the pictures looked like they had mushi in them. lol
